Achieve a Fresher, Younger Look
Baggy, sagging eyelids can make you seem older or give you a tired appearance. Dr. Tracy McCall provides eyelid surgery at her Milwaukee-area practice to rejuvenate patients' upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both. Also known as blepharoplasty, eyelid surgery can remove some of the excess fat and skin that accumulates around the eye, giving you a younger, fresher, more "awake" look.
How Does Eyelid Surgery Work?
At Lake Country Plastic and Hand Surgery, blepharoplasty is done as an outpatient procedure. One of the benefits of eyelid surgery is that the incision lines are designed so that the scars will be small and well concealed. The location of the surgeon's cuts will depend on whether you are having upper or lower blepharoplasty, or both. If it's upper eyelid surgery, then an incision will be made in the natural creases of the upper lid. Lower blepharoplasty may require an incision below the lower lash line, or the doctor may choose a transconjunctival incision that is hidden inside the lower eyelid. When the incisions are made, Dr. McCall can reposition or remove fat deposits, take away excess skin and tighten the muscles and tissue. Many of our patients in Pewaukee combine their eyelid surgery with a facelift for a more complete rejuvenation.

Am I a Good Candidate for Eyelid Surgery?
Because the eyes are such an important part of the face, we see many men and women at our Pewaukee facility who are interested in eyelid surgery. Some of their common concerns include:
- Loose or droopy skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid
- Impaired vision from sagging upper eyelids
- Excess fat that makes the upper eyelids look puffy
- Bags under the eyes
- Sagging of the lower eyelids, revealing the white below the iris
- Extraneous skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid

What is the Recovery Process for Eyelid Surgery?
After the operation, you will experience bruising and swelling, which usually disappears in about one to four weeks. You will be instructed to keep your head elevated and to apply ice packs to your eyes for the first two days after surgery. Within seven to 10 days, most of our blepharoplasty patients in Pewaukee are comfortable going out in public with cover-up makeup or glasses.
