Dermal Fillers

Are wrinkles and facial creases making you look older than you are? Do you wish you had plumper lips and fuller cheeks?

Dermal fillers are a great way to soften your wrinkles and add volume and fullness to your face.

Dr. Tracy McCall can rejuvenate your appearance through dermal fillers at her Waukesha, WI, office serving Greater Milwaukee.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

As we age, our skin loses its volume, making creases around the eyes, nose, and mouth more apparent. Injectable dermal fillers are a gel-like substance that can add volume, reduce wrinkles, add plumpness to your lips, and give you an overall more youthful appearance.

What Can Fillers Do for Me?

While most people associate dermal fillers with wrinkle fillers, they can offer so much more than that.

Enhance Volume

Fillers can add volume back to your face where you want it, rejuvenating sunken cheeks and enhancing shallow contours.

Plumper Lips

No need for a stinging lip gloss anymore - dermal fillers can add plumpness to your lips, giving them an attractive pouty look.

Soften Wrinkles

Dermal fillers are great at smoothing out those stubborn lines on your face.

As we age, our skin begins to lose its elasticity, causing our face to lose symmetry. By increasing volume, fillers can restore symmetry and rejuvenate your visage.

Am I a Good Candidate for Fillers?

Dermal fillers are great for people who are showing early signs of aging, or as an addition to facial surgery. You may be a good candidate for dermal fillers if:

  • You are unhappy with your appearance

  • Your skin has lost volume, elasticity, or plumpness

  • You are in good overall health

  • You are not a smoker

  • You are committed to maintaining good skin health

Dr. McCall is amazing! She did a fantastic job on my bilateral reduction. I am so pleased with the results. Her nurse, Kristen, is also fantastic. I can't say enough good things! My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a plastic surgeon in this area.

Types of Fillers We Offer

Our Waukesha, WI, office offers three types of fillers to meet a range of needs:

Woman touching chin

JUVÉDERM is a hyaluronic acid-based gel that is placed in the mid to deep dermis. Hyaluronic acid is naturally produced in the body, giving skin the plump, subtle qualities we associate with youth. Hyaluronic acid also attracts water molecules, keeping your skin hydrated. JUVÉDERM can give you a more youthful appearance after just one visit. The results of JUVÉDERM last about a year, and you can maintain your results though periodic touch-up treatments.

Rather than using hyaluronic acid, Radiesse consists of calcium-based spheres suspended in the gel. This filler acts as a suspension within which your natural collagen can grow. This restores the volume and elasticity of your skin while smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles. The whole procedure only takes about 15 minutes, and the results can last as long as two years.

Bellafill is a collagen-based filler with polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres. PMMA is a biocompatible substance that has been used in medical implants for 65 years. Bellafill creates an immediate boost in volume and smoothness you can see as soon as you leave our office. Eventually, the collagen is absorbed by the body, but the PMMA stays, providing a space for your natural collagen to grow within. This is a long-lasting treatment with some patients reporting the effects to have lasted as long as five years.

What Can You Expect?

You will first meet with Dr. McCall to discuss what your end goals are and which treatment will be best for you. While the risks associated with injectables are very low, you still need to be upfront about your medical history and any medications you may be taking. It is important to disclose if you have any known allergies or are taking any NSAIDs or blood thinners, as both can increase bruising and other risks.

Day of Treatment

Before your injections, the area will be fully cleaned and if necessary, a topical anesthetic can be given. Dr. McCall will then inject the appropriate amount of filler per region to give you your desired results. The entire process is extremely quick, and you should be able to notice the change immediately.

After Your Treatment

Some patients experience mild bruising and swelling after filler treatment. However, this shouldn't last longer than a couple of days. You can go back to your daily routine immediately after treatment, but always follow your cosmetic surgeon's instructions in case there are any activities they recommend temporarily avoiding, such strenuous exercise.
