Breast Lift

Time, gravity, weight fluctuations, and childbirth all affect the breasts and may cause them to lose their youthful position and contour.

A breast lift, or mastopexy, can help you regain a youthful bust line. The cosmetic procedure can be combined with implants to add volume.

At Lake Country Plastic & Hand Surgery in Waukesha, WI, Dr. Tracy McCall expertly performs breast lifts for patients around Milwaukee, WI.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?

There are many reasons why women want breast lift surgery. Some of their common complaints include:

  • Sagging breasts
  • Breasts that have lost shape or volume
  • Drooping breasts
  • Breasts that are flat, elongated, or pendulous
  • Nipples that fall below the breast crease
  • Nipples and areolas that point downward
  • Stretched skin and enlarged areolas
  • A breast that is lower than the other

How Does a Breast Lift Work?

During a breast lift, also known as mastopexy, our plastic surgeon removes excess skin and tightens tissue to raise and firm your breasts. Dr. McCall has worked with women from across the region to help them attain a more youthful-looking bust line. With a breast lift, you can rejuvenate your figure and enjoy firmer, perkier breasts. In cases where breast volume has also been lost, some of our patients combine plastic surgery procedures like breast lift with breast augmentation.

There are numerous methods to lift the breasts surgically, each designed for different stages of ptosis or breast droop. A breast lift, with or without breast augmentation, will leave permanent scars, but these fade with time.

The Breast Lift Treatment Process

When you undergo a breast lift with our skilled plastic surgeon out our Waukesha, WI, practice, serving areas throughout greater Milwaukee, WI, you can expect the following:
To produce a youthful lift, we will tighten the skin on the breasts.
To produce a youthful lift, we will tighten the skin on the breasts.

To keep you comfortable throughout your cosmetic surgery, we will administer anesthesia so you don't feel any pain or remember the procedure.

Next, an incision will be made in the breasts. For the smallest amount of correction, the incision is limited to the areolar area. More moderate alterations require an additional incision down the center of the breast. For the greatest amount of lift, we will perform the anchor approach, which includes an incision along the underside of the breasts.

Tightening the Breast Envelope

To produce a youthful lift, we will tighten the skin on the breasts so it no longer droops and has a smoother contour.

Nipple Repositioning

To raise the nipple to a more natural location, we will reposition the nipple-areolar complex.

Tissue Removal

Next, we will remove excess tissue and close all of the incisions. When the plastic surgery procedure is complete, the incisions and treatment area will be bandaged.

What Is the Recovery Process Like after a Breast Lift?

Minimal Pain

There may be slight discomfort at the incision sites and in the overall breast tissue for several weeks after your cosmetic surgery. It's at its worst the week after surgery and then subsides. For the first few days, you may want to take the pain medication we prescribe to keep you comfortable.

Compression Garments

You will need to wear a compression garment or bra for a few weeks after surgery to decrease swelling and provide support during the healing process.

Seeing Results

Typically, patients start to enjoy the results of this plastic surgery procedure six weeks to three months after surgery.
